Maneater

[outfit details: Rodarte x Target Leopard Lace Dress // Black Opaque Tights // Wood Heel Wedges]

Today going back to school was annoying, my teachers are annoying, and because I'm a senior I feel like I shouldn't have to do anything. I wish I had something to motivate me (like the spring weather) but sadly, I can't even get that! I left school early today w/ a good friend of mine Angie and headed to get some fast food and hang out until it was time for the banquet my school was having for all the clubs. Because I am a part of United Sisters I was forced to go but I got to finally wear my Rodarte for Target Leopard Lace dress. They served us a pretty nice dinner but I'm hungry all over again. Due to all the snow in NY I'll be staying in VA this weekend and will probably be forced to spend the money I said I wouldn't! I definitely have a problem haha. Oh I almost forgot, I finally attempted to do the French braid in the front of my hair that I've been wanting to do for some time, I cannot braid, and really have never tried to, but after a few tutorials on you tube I got it down.

The Selby Visits..

I'm a big fan of the site "The Selby" they venture into the apartments of many different people all over the world and it really shows you a more creative side to people when it comes to their homes. Heres a collection of my favorite pictures from different apartments featured on the Selby. If all goes well, in a couple of months I'll be moving downtown and into my own apartment and I definitely get a lot of inspiration from the things I see on here.

Mental Dropout

Lately school has been a huge drag, it's getting closer and closer to the end of the year, and with all these day's off my friends and I are feeling completely unmotivated. Yesterday my friends and I decided today we were not going to go to school but instead would take a "college day". In my school, seniors are allotted 7 excused absences for college visits so in part of our little day off we chilled around the VCU campus, the same campus my friend Dupree and I intend on being at this coming fall. Our day was full of laughs and I met a lot of new people, especially at the school, being that I plan on going there next year, I definitely have to network. If you know me, I'm usually shy at first, I'm not so comfortable around people I don't know, but yesterday my friends and I were talking and I promised myself that, that would change. You have to be open and put yourself out there sometimes and you'll definitely reap the benefits. A lot of things are changing, keep up!

The Favorites Series: Nike Air Jordan Retro III

Next up in the favorites series are my retro Air Jordan III's, originally released in 2001, and have to be my hands down favorite pair of sneakers ever. Like many, I went through my sneaker phase, and went through lots of different sneakers, old & new, but after selling off mostly all of them, these are the pair that I'll always keep. I rarely wear them anymore, but they will still be a favorite. The classic Nike air imprinted on the back of the shoe and the infamous elephant print makes these Jordan's a significant shoe to anyone who knows about sneakers. I paid a good amount of money for these and they were worth every penny, I regret a lot of sneaker buys that I have purchased in the past but through all of them I'll never regret these.

Sundaze

This weekend has seemed to tire me out (maybe from running around after my niece) but it has been a great weekend none the less. My niece being here this week has made everyone in my house a little happier and we've all been spending more time together. Today I planed on relaxing at home all day but I still had to run a few errands. It was beautiful out and I decided to finally try out my new Sephora Matte Lipstick: its really bright and looks nice but it isn't for everyday wear. I also picked up some really cute wedges while I was out shopping on Saturday. I can't wait for spring to wear these w/ a pair of cropped tailored pants or shorts :)

Jaded

So a lot has been happening in the past week or so, well, a lot as in things for me to post about but honestly I haven't found the time or figured where I would start. But I guess i'll start here, if you didn't know already I've had a G1 since it came out almost 2 years ago, when it comes too cell phones I'm not the type to change phones w/ every trend. I don't care that much and rather go shopping than spend money on a phone. So I'm easily satisfied and although many have deemed my G1 as "played out" I found nothing wrong w/ it. Even so, I still felt it was time for a change, and so my search for a non-touchscreen/i-phone/blackberry phone began which narrows down your search to very few. But then I stumbled on the T-Mobile Dash 3G, and fell in love. Everyone says it looks like a blackberry but it's much thinner and uses windows mobile. It's much simpler than the G1 but still something up to date allowing you to download the necessary apps. Now on to my new nail polish! Today while searching for new scarves at F21 I came across this green colored nail polish that reminded me of the much sought after Jade nail polish by Chanel. Then I got the idea from my cousin and layered it w/ silver-glittered nail polish and I love how it came out, I'm usually the solid color and go type of girl when it comes to my nails but I guess I'm feeling a little daring haha.

Your One Year Older

I would like to publicly wish my beautiful mother a Happy 41st Birthday. Although my mom and I haven't always had the great relationship we do now, she is the most important person in my life. She impacts every aspect of what I do and is always supportive of my decisions, whether she's being brutally honest or giving me her shoulder to cry on, she always prepares me for the obstacles you have to face. She's like a best friend and I am so greatful to have her as my Mom; she's given me everything I've wanted & more (even when I'm being a brat). So, Happy Birthday Mom, I love you! <3

P.S: Here's a little animation I made of her when she went on a picture taking frenzy on one of our shopping trips lol.

P.P.S: In my original post I realized I said "life" way too many times lol, I hate sounding repetitive in my writing so I had to do a quick editors note. Please bare w/ me I wrote that post around 12am after being in the airport all day trying to get home haha.

Guess What Came In The Mail

Last month I blogged about my failed search to find any pieces from the Rodarte x Target collection, and although they had some cute items, there was one thing I really wanted. Less than a month later I'm happy to say I've finally got my hands on the Rodarte x Target Lace Leopard dress, for the original price too! A lot of people who got hold of the items in store took to eBay and resold them for double the original price, but I was lucky to get my size and it fits great. I'll post more about it when I actually wear it.

The Favorites Series: Izod Lacoste

The second thing I decided to do in the favorites series is my favorite cardigan, a vintage Izod Lacoste sweater I got on eBay last year. It's a really old sweater, circa the 1980's when Izod and Lacoste were still together and it's about two sizes too big which gives it the perfect slouchy/grandpa look. I'm not a huge fan of the color green, and this sweater is probably the only green piece of clothing I own, but I love it for when I have on nude/beige colored clothing, which is often, especially in the spring and fall seasons. It's thick, warm, and comfortable, and I know I paid no where near the original price. I love great eBay finds!

The Favorites Series: A. Wang

*excerpt: I had the idea to do a favorites series on my blog after seeing it done on C.O.E but my twist is, I'm going to do 10 of my favorite items that I own. In the favorites series, I'll explain why its a favorite, and give you a story behind it. This is an ongoing project so I hope you enjoy.
First up is my Alexander Wang Coco Duffel I got for my birthday last year, one of the best gifts I got that day and probably one of the most expensive items I own but that isn't why it's a favorite. In all honesty I love the simplicity of a black leather bag, and at first glance, that's what you see. But once you take a closer look, you see the stud lined bottom and it definitely catches your eye. My mom went through hell to get a hold of this bag, because at the time, it was really sought after and sold out almost everywhere. I love her for that, and this is definitely no stranger to my wardrobe or blog. It holds everything I need, and if you aren't familiar w/ A. Wang to you it might seem like a regular bag. I'm not a flashy person, I refuse to wear a bag covered in G's or a typical checkered pattern with a brass lock dangling from the handle. But instead you'll see me in this or a bag I thrifted.

Love Like

I was sitting at my laptop screen for about 20mins trying to express the way I feel about my boyfriend, I wrote paragraphs and erased them all because I felt like it still wasn't good enough. But then..I remembered this poem and it embodied almost every emotion I feel for my man. It's one of those nights, and he's on the phone fighting back sleep to stay up w/ me. I try to convince him to go to bed, but he insists he's awake and then he pours his heart out, "I love you, goodnight"

Uprising

(once again the title of this post has nothing to do w/ the post, but thats the name of the song I'm listening to at the moment lol) If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I never dress appropriate for the season haha. I hate the winter because people get lazy and most stop caring about their appearance but honestly I'll stick it out through the cold! I never wear big jackets, and the only common thing I'll do (clothes wise) is layer up. Today it wasn't really cold outside so I decided to throw on my favorite shorts (w/ tights of course!) and pair it with my favorite blowfish booties. They're definitely worn in by now and I like the old rusty vintage look that gives it, I also love that garter looking ring around my tights right below the area the shorts cut off. Todays antics included  heading downtown to run some errands w/ my friend Angie and of course getting Chipotle to end our afternoon.
The funny thing about this week is that I haven't been to school yet, sounds bizarre right? Well Friday/ Saturday we got a really bad snow storm out here and it's left the transportation helpless! Virginians (not sure if that's correct) cannot handle the snow, they can't drive on it, nor will they try to so that automatically leads to school closings and work delays. I'm enjoying my little vaca thought but it is putting me at an all time high of laziness lol.
[outfit details: Vintage Blazer // Vintage Women's Ralph Lauren Sport button shirt // Vintage Cut off Levi shorts // H&M  Tights // Scarf: Gift from Germany// Zara Chain Purse // Blowfish Booties]
I also realized I never talk about my accessories (out of laziness) but I had to show off this cuff I got from UO, I'm absolutely in love w/ it and wear it w/ almost everything, besides that my usual wrist of bracelets and my lluvia name ring.

In Another Time

I've been going through a Sade frenzy lately and this is a new song off of her first album in almost 10 years entitled "Soldier of Love", I'm not sure if her entire album leaked but whether or not I'm still going to support and buy the album on February 9th, enjoy!

Frills & Thrills

So I've had this kimichi blue double breasted jacket for about 2yrs or so & I've only worn it once! My main problem w/ the jacket is that the frills that outline the jacket give it a sort've dressy look, to where it doesn't go w/ my daily outfits, and the frills seem to clash with EVERYTHING lol. I love the jacket and the camel color but I just couldn't get passed the frills, so what do you do? Chop em' off! and that's exactly what I did. I don't know why I didn't think of that sooner but now I love the jacket and can see it being a familiar pick in my wardrobe. (btw excuse my horrible mix of colors, I was in my house clothes when I took these!)

P.S: I have to show you a picture of the beautiful bouquet of pink roses my boyfriend sent me today! I've only gotten a bouquet of roses once before (very awkward situation, I was in middle school) but now that I'm older I can really appreciate them. Imagine my surprise when I got a large box from flowers.com addressed to me. It's not even Valentines Day yet, pre-gaming baby ? haha

Dear Lover,

When I found out that Marc Jacobs would be live streaming his Fall 2010 Fashion Show on his website I was more than excited. I'm not a big fan of runway shows, a lot of them bore me (besides the ones that debut really eccentric clothing) but I always love a good MJ show. I'll definitely be tuning into this show on February 15 (post-valentines day madness) you should too!
